R. Dobru, Suriname writer, Surinamese black poet
About The Poet

Dobru (Robin Ewald Raveles, 1935-1983) was a politician, a writer, and a poet of Suriname. He was influenced by other Caribbean writers but was one of the most important figures of the movement Wie Eegie Sanie (that promoted Surinamese culture and language). His works have a strong nationalism as a result of his political education in his house and his participation in national politics.
